Some companies who make car booster seats are doing a better job fitting children with their seat belts when using the booster seat.

Twenty-one of 72 companies received top grades by The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety for properly fitting and restraining children in their booster seats.

Only nine of 60 seats reviewed last year got that rating.

They only looked at the fitting of seat belts and proper restraints on children who use their seats. No crash tests were involved.

Booster seats are used by children who are too big to fit into car seats. The booster seats prop up the children in the car. The Insurance Institute of Highway safety recommends using booster seats until a child is 8 years old or 4'9" tall.

The belt is supposed to cross over the middle of the shoulder, but some seats have the belt too close to the neck.

The companies who did not receive a recommendation were: Eddie Bauer Deluxe, Eddie Bauer Deluxe 3-in-1, Evenflo Express, Evenflo Generations 65, Evenflo Sightseer, Harmony Baby Armor, Safety 1st All-in-One, and Safety 1st Alpha Omega Elite.
